Sleep Theories (Essay Sample) Content: Name of Student:Name of Instructor:Title: Sleep13TH February 2015The recuperation theory mainly views sleep as a method used by the body to restore its previous homeostatic balance ,after the body being awake for most periods of the day, while circadian theory focus upon the fact that there is nothing going to be lost if the body does not sleep, but rather, sleep serves as a form of protection for us from the dangers of the darkness as well as a form of energy conservation .Secondly, recuperation theory is focus mainly about the inside environment, the intrinsic self of the body, while the circadian is purely extrinsic. Thirdly, whereas the recuperation theory focuses solely upon the interpretation of sleep as a form of physical psychological recovery that can take place at any time, the circadian theory is based upon a well coordinated cycle or rhythms, which can be predicted at given time intervals. The recuperation theory is a general assumption based on the manne r in which sleep is appreciated, while circadian tends to go into the details and explain more about sleep (Pinel, 2011).I go for the circadian theory due to a variety of reasons. Firstly, the recuperation theory is more profoundly basing its argument on assumption rather than fact. This is disapproved by the circadian theory, which essentially gives a more practical explanation to the concept of sleep.
